The Kodhus, inhabiting the Eastern Ghats, are known for performing Dhimsa—a form of tribal dance. I went in search of them and found a group of women sitting together. They appeared strong, adorned with many ornaments and several piercings. When I asked one of them about the dance, she nodded, took out a cigar she had rolled earlier, and stylishly popped it into her mouth. Before lighting it, she asked me to click her picture while she posed confidently.
