Sumanth Marda’s hyper-realistic art a big hit
Exhibition showcases rich range of innovation, deep observation of life’s surreal moments An art exhibition of hyper-realistic artist Sumanth Marda at Gallery 78 in Hitec City, organised by the Castle Art City, has been a big hit and has drawn lots of art lovers to the expo.
The week-long exhibition inaugurated by Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, industries and commerce, and information technology departments of the state government, has so far had several well-known art connoisseurs, luminaries, artists as well as dilettantes and art enthusiasts attending it.
Marda, a contemporary fine artist, who works with charcoal and acrylic mediums, is exhibiting his works which are hyper-close to reality, with nearly photographic finish, yet fusing a rich range of innovation and deep observation of life’s surreal moments.
An engineer in computer sciences from Osmania University and a BFA in animation from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, Sumanth, after a decade-long career in animation, is now focusing on creating monochromatic works in charcoal, mainly depicting the world around with a realistic gaze.
Speaking about his work, Sumanth said, “I draw inspiration from people. For instance, in my work titled, ‘Innocence’, (84” x 54”), which happens to be one of my first large artworks, done purely with charcoal, I wanted to capture pure untainted emotions. In my quest to capture humans who evoke an emotional interest in me,
I travelled widely to and ventured into deep jungles on the AndhraOdisha border in search of tribals living in seclusion.”
Castle Art City is an idea to revolutionise the art scenario in Hyderabad and south India, founded by entrepreneurs with a common passion for art and envisaged to become an epicentre of art from all over the world.
Co-founder of Castle Art City, Ramakanth Thumrugoti, said, “As part of art promotional programmes, CAC will be discovering new talents and presenting their works to a distinguished yet wide audience. Talent focus is on original quality of work, craft and contemporary techniques. One such find is Sumath Marda, a Hyderabadi artist with hyperrealism as his speciality.”
